MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., November 7, 2006

CORE NEWS FACTS

  • Gary Taggart has been appointed vice president of sales and support for Reconnex.
  • Taggart will be responsible for increasing the company’s already strong sales momentum in the U.S and for bringing Reconnex 5.0 to markets worldwide.  Reconnex customers include Fortune 1000 companies, government agencies, and educational institutions.
  • In addition Taggart will lead the growth of Reconnex’s support and professional services organization to exceed customer expectations.
  • Taggart’s ability to plan and execute at both the strategic and tactical levels, his dynamic and motivational leadership, and his experience selling into Fortune 1000 accounts, combined with Reconnex’s early success, will help lead Reconnex to market leadership.
  • According to a security spending survey by Goldman Sachs, internal threats are the second largest driver of security spending, at 68 percent. To combat these internal threats, 72 percent of those surveyed will look to deploy technology to prevent data leakage.
  • Reconnex’s iGuard appliance is the most complete solution on the market, defending valuable intellectual property and confidential data against threats before, during, and after exposure.
  • The iGuard secures sensitive data at rest, before a threat becomes real; protects it during transmission, when the risk of abuse or misuse is highest; and helps IT identify and address unforeseen threats after they occur.
  • To extend the utility of its content-aware iGuard appliance, Reconnex partners with such leading companies as PostX (email encryption appliance), Extreme Networks (Ethernet switching solutions), ArcSight (security information management platform), and EMC (enterprise content management).  The company has taken a standards-based approach to email gateway integration by partnering with Barracuda, IronPort, and SendMail.

COMMENTARY

  • John K. Peters, President and CEO, Reconnex –“Gary has not only in-depth experience in the security market but also a proven track record of scaling companies of our size to the next stage of growth.  Reconnex is looking to continue to accelerate our already rapid growth in sales, and Gary’s experience in all stages of a company’s development, from start-up to market leadership, is exactly what we need.”
  • Gary Taggart, Vice President of Sales, Reconnex – “I was attracted to Reconnex because I see a huge opportunity in protecting information through data loss prevention, and the company  takes a far broader and more complete approach to data protection than its competitors. No other solution is able to protect valuable intellectual property as well as fixed-format data such as Social Security numbers.  Increasingly, enterprises are realizing they need to protect their IP assets, so the market is ripe for Reconnex.”
