Reconnex Names Allan G. Thompson Vice President of Business Development
Executive with Long-Standing Security Experience Will Drive New Business Opportunities, Strategic Alliances, and Global Partnerships
Mountain View, Calif., May 15, 2007 – Reconnex, the leader in data leak prevention appliances, announced today that Allan G. Thompson has joined the company as vice president of business development reporting to CEO John K. Peters. In this new position, Thompson will have overall responsibility for developing new business opportunities and creating strategic alliances that will help drive the company’s growth.
“The data leak prevention market is taking off, and Reconnex is at its forefront,” said Peters. “Allan’s extensive experience in data protection and security, and the relationships he’s developed with key market players, make him a natural fit for Reconnex. With Allan in our new business development position, we’ll be able to further extend our position as a market leader and ensure we have the broadest web of relationships with companies that complement our core competency.”
“Reconnex is a great place to be right now. It has really nailed the fundamental data security and protection issue—keeping intellectual property and other private and sensitive information from leaving the network,” said Thompson. “Enterprises now realize they need to go beyond preventing the leakage of fixed data such as credit card numbers to preventing the leakage of amorphous data such as IP that constitutes their core value. The need to comply with common industry security requirements such as the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard is also driving enterprises to DLP.”
Prior to joining Reconnex, Thompson held multiple executive-level positions with companies in the enterprise security market. At Trend Micro he was part of the team that grew North American sales revenues by 300 percent over four years, and at IntruVert Networks he was instrumental in its acquisition by McAfee. He has also held executive positions at Tenebril, Inc., and Senforce Technologies. Thompson holds a BS in business administration from Pepperdine University.
