RECONNEX ANNOUNCES CHANNEL INITIATIVE FOR NEW DATA LOSS PROFILER APPLIANCE

Channel Resource Enables Reconnex Certified Channel Partners to Better Advise their Customers on Protecting Confidential and Sensitive Data

Mountain View, Calif., Feb. 26, 2008 – Reconnex, the leader in data loss prevention appliances, today introduced the channel initiative for its new Data Loss Profiler, a turnkey appliance that that enables enterprise security personnel to learn what confidential and sensitive information is leaving the network and where it is going. This solution addresses the underlying challenge in deploying Data Loss Prevention (DLP) systems—knowing what data to look for. Reconnex is allocating Data Loss Profilers to its Reconnex Certified Channel Partners, who can leverage the appliances as a key part of their overall service offering to easily help their customers understand—and protect against—their exposure to data loss.

Editors note: For more information about the Data Loss Profiler, also see “New Reconnex Appliance Helps Organizations Learn What They Don’t Know,” also released today.

“Historically, DLP solutions demanded significant effort from multiple departments in order to function. This made them complicated and time intensive to set up and missed the primary concern of most IT and business managers: to have an easy-to-implement, easy-to-manage solution that can protect their organization’s specific content,” said Babak Pasdar, president and CEO of Bat Blue Corporation. “The Reconnex Profiler gives our clients an upper hand; the solution rolls out quickly and does not demand an intricate and costly implementation. We’ve been successfully using the Reconnex Data Loss Profiler to educate our customers on what is happening to their data today. As a result, Blue Bat has won opportunities that were not possible for us to win otherwise.”

The Data Loss Profiler automatically indexes and classifies all content leaving a network, not just known content covered by existing policies. Partners can use the appliance to perform a one-week assessment that provides the most thorough view of customers’ network traffic and thus of their risk of data loss, and deliver a report on their findings. The profiler needs no configuration or setup; rather, it starts working immediately and is driven from queries to its index. Partners may use the reports generated by the Data Loss Profiler as the first step towards the purchase of a full data loss prevention (DLP) solution.

“Reconnex channel partners are now uniquely enabled to use the Data Loss Profiler to advise their customers’ security teams about issues of data loss and the need for developing policies and procedures to prevent it,” said Faizel Lakhani, vice president of marketing at Reconnex. “The appliance enables our partners to show their customers what is actually being communicated over their networks and to whom. Organizations can use this information to determine if they need to take a proactive step with data loss prevention and identify broken business processes.”
